Logo Redesign

I’ve relied on Brand New  (http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew) for quite a while as my resource for staying up to date on the latest branding news. I think this is one of their most interesting posts in a long time…the rebranding of American Airlines.

American Airlines has always had one of the most iconic logos out there. I would be willing to bet the majority of Americans would recognize it immediately…regardless of their feelings for the airline itself. So to improve upon the A (eagle) A that has donned their planes since 1968 is quite an achievement. And I think they’ve done it.

Despite the arguably trendy gradients and shading, the basic form of this logo is an example of simplicity at its best. But that’s just this guy’s opinion. Decide for yourself:
